Še pred nedavnim so krožile šale o tem, toda sedaj postaja vse bolj verjetno da bo stranski projekt štirih priznanih glasbenikov (Pete Trewavas (Marillion), Chris Maitland (Porcupine Tree), John Mitchell (Arena, The Urbane) in John Beck (It Bites)) imenovan Kino postal na novo obnovljena prog/pop rock skupina It Bites.
Načrtovani nastop Kino, ki bi se moral zgoditi na festivalu britanske revije Classic Rock Society v decembru je bil odpovedan zato, da je bil zamenjan z nobenim drugim kot prvim uradnim nastopom It Bites po ponovni združitvi. Prav tako je bil odpovedan nastop Kino za 2. december 2006 v Oakwood Centre, v Rotherhamu. Na njegovem mestu bo drugi britanski nastop na novo obnovljenih It Bites. Cena vstopnic in prizorišče ostajata ista. Spremljevalna skupina bodo Touchstone.
It Bites so bili odsotni z glasbene scene že vrsto let in njihova vrnitev je bila že nekaj časa načrtovana. Nova zasedba It Bites bo: Bob Dalton na bobnih, John Beck na klaviaturah, Dick Nolan na bas kitari in novi član, trenutni kitarist leta bitanske glasbene revije Classic Rock Society, John Mitchell na kitari in vokalu.
Ob tem je John Mitchell na njihovem forumu odločno zanikal vsa ugibanja, da to pomeni konec za Kino. Ko so ga vprašali kakšne načrte ima glede vseh skupin s katerimi trenutno sodeluje oziroma katerih član je (Arena, The Urbane, John Wetton Band, Kino, Frost ter It Bites) in kako posamezne izmed njih obravnava je sporočil sledeče:
Well Arena are on some form of hiatus at the moment whilst Clive is busy with his Operatic project.
The Urbane has always been as and when i can fit it in, and is more of a ‘hobby’.
John Wetton doesnt tour all that much at the moment and now he and Geoff are busy with Asia and will be a lot of next year.
Kino as i stated before WILL be doing another album in the not too distant future, but Pete T is busy with Marillion at the moment and will be for quite some time. Kino is very much down to schedules permitting.
Frost and It Bites are the only two things which are currently in the throws of activity. Like all things i do, i am EXTREMELY fond and proud of both Frost and It Bites and I am very fortunate indeed to be involved in two brilliant bands. Funnily enough the IB guys are totally blown away by the FROST album (BD & JB both think it is the freshest thing they have heard in yonks) and you just ask Jem…JB and the music of It Bites was one of his biggest influences growing up (much like myself).
Like i have always said, all i do is music and if we plan far enough ahead then there is easily time enough for more than one thing!
After all, its not like any of the things i am involved in are like U2 and are touring for 3 months at a time. I just like to keep busy and do different interesting things, which i am very fortunate to be able to do.
The only problem is that people will probably be sick of the sight of me by the end of it all! 🙂
Btw…re the Kino show…. IB were offered a very cool tour by the original IB promoter and had to fit into a very, very small window of opportunity. Unfortunately that window fell right on top of our Kino date, but we didnt want to lose the whole IB tour.
We did what we thought was the best thing to do under the circumstances and i apologise to anyone who has been inconvenienced or let down. And sorry to Martin Hudson for making his life unecessarily awkward! Sorry Mart!
The Kino show IS being rescheduled as we speak, you have my word! Watch this space over the next couple of days.
